PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Responsible for monitoring and maintaining student exhibition areas. Provide support for exhibition programs and instructional sessions. Assist in special events and special projects.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain schedule of student exhibitions, events and projects pertaining to Academic Services.
- Schedule installers and helpers as needed.
- Prepare and maintain student exhibition areas throughout the college.
- Prepare and install artwork for student exhibitions.
- Assist in preparation, organization and set-ups for openings and special events.
- Assist with special projects.
- Assemble picture frames.
- Inventory and organize supplies, equipment and art storage.
- Package and transport artwork for student exhibitions and off-campus exhibitions.
- Instruct on handling and installing art.
- Demonstrate cutting and matting equipment.
- Maintain curating room and glass cutting area.
- Order glass, Plexiglas, equipment and supplies.
- Provide technical assistance and monitor safety of installations.
- Assist in lighting student exhibition areas; maintain lamp inventory.
- Install student exhibition signage; prepare and install labels.
- Other duties as assigned, particularly in Academic Support areas. This list of duties/responsibilities does not preclude assignment of other duties.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
May be subject to being on-call; carrying a beeper or two-way radio; schedule changes based on the needs of the College; working long hours to complete/perform scheduled or emergency functions and events. Must be able to clearly relate instructions and directions. Will be called upon to discuss installations, repairs and other routine and event-related projects. Required to work under adverse weather conditions and varying temperatures.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to work from ladders, scaffolds and roofs. Required to work in confined spaces, which may require extended period of stooping, bending, kneeling, or standing for long periods of time. Involves a great deal of walking. Must possess normal vision, hearing and physical dexterity. Will be required to do labor which may involve heavy weights (within manageable and safe limits); must be able to transport equipment, including tool carts which may carry 400 pounds. QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Must be high school graduate, or equivalent.
Experience: Three years of gallery installation/art handling experience preferred.
Skills: Working knowledge of hand/power tools and painting equipment and their safe use is necessary. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Other: Must pass Motor Vehicle DMV Check and possess a valid Minnesota Driver's License, good record.
